Panchkula Honeytrap gang, In this Place called Panchkula police have arrested seven people, including two womens, for running a honeytrap racket involving, blackmail and Extortion across parts of Haryana and Punjab. During the interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to their involvement in at least 54 crimes, though formal complaints were filed in only 20 of those cases.
According to the police, what police says is that, the gang operated by targeting motorists who offered lifts on highways. Female members would solicit rides from unsuspecting drivers. Once inside the vehicle, the situation would escalate in different ways, either by summoning male accomplices who would threaten the driver with false allegations, or by directing the vehicle to a secluded spot where the victim would be robbed or extorted. In same cases, the objective was also vehicle theft from this Panchkula Honeytrap gang.
Investigators revealed that the Panchkula Honeytrap gang included a young women from Punjab and her boyfriend from Haryana, who is believed to be the main handler. The accused allegedly spent around Rs.5000 a day on drugs and hotel stays.
Police said the male partner is a known criminal and his identity has not been fully disclosed due to ongoing investigation. he has also reportedly admitted to serious offences, including sexual violence against his live-in partner.
In a related development, a women from Gurugram was arrested in Panchkula on the directions of the Haryana State Commission for Women after complaints of blackmail and threats involving false rape allegations. Authorities stated that chats and call records recovered from her phone indicated a Panchkula Honeytrap gang conspiracy rather than a genuine sexual offence. Her mobile phone has been seized for forensic examination, and she has been taken into custody for further investigation into her past activities.
Police have cautioned the public to exercise restraint while offering lifts to strangers, especially in isolated areas or late at night, and advised people to rely on verified transport services. Investigations into the full extent of the gang’s operations and possible links to other similar cases are ongoing
